Kate Lawler was born on 7 May 1980 in Beckenham, Kent. She has a twin sister, Karen, who provided the main encouragement for Kate to enter Big Brother. At one stage she co-hosted Rise with Iain Lee. It was Channel 4's successor to The Big Breakfast, however the show was canned after Channel 4 decided it was failing to grow a sufficient audience. After her success in Big Brother 3 Kate Lawler together with her fitness instructor Rhyidan Lewis made a fitness video. In April 2005, Kate Lawler was one of the participants in ITV's ill-fated series, Celebrity Wrestling, along with the likes of Annabel Croft, Michelle Heaton, and Leilani Dowding. In 2005, Kate Lawler and her boyfriend of almost two years, footballer Jonathan Woodgate split up.
