I started out in the Cuban Revolution like any other citizen, wondering how I could help my fellow rebels. I began by positioning myself as central organizer of the rebel's supplies and recruitment network, among my responsibilities were the sending groups of reinforcements to the Sierra Maestra and organizing cells of peasants in the mountains prepared to join and assist the landing of the rebel expedition (this launched the beginning of the Cuban Revolution in December of 1956). I will admit that at the time of the revolution myself and my comrades were not the most popular of people. We were viewed as extreme intrusions to the lives of the individuals whose property we picked as hideouts. I for one was one of the most wanted persons by the Cuban police at the time and no civilian in their right mind wanted to be seen with me.
