I love the smell of DEEP WOODS OFF, the feel of prickly leaves under my bare feet, the heat of a hot summer's day as I climb into my kayak "The Knotty Bouy" and the frustration I feel when I realize I have to pee and I'm 20 miles from a restroom. I love to peel sunburned skin off my shoulders when I realize I've played too hard, too long in the summer sun without sunscreen, and to roll around in agony trying to get up off the floor of my tent when the air mattress deflated in the middle of the night.

I love to watch the look on my daughter's face as she baits a hook with something that smells really, really bad - and when she laughs at my lame attempts to start a fire in a wet fire pit. I love to watch the little squirrels lose their fear as I bribe them with leftover corn from our picnic... to come a little closer... so Donna can try to snag them in her grasp - threatening them with a life sentence behind bars as her captive.

They are too fast, she is too slow - it's just fun to watch. :-) I love to get to a campground in the middle of the night, and realize I've forgotten something silly - like the tent. Okay, so I didn't love that, but it was really funny at the time... or... well, maybe not at the time, but shortly thereafter when we realized we survived it. I love to run across a really huge snake that I can't identify out in the woods, about 5 miles from anywhere. It makes a great story to tell my Mom and watch her freak out the next time we say "We're going hiking this weekend!" I love to smell like Deep Woods Off. Yes, I know it smells pretty rank - but I've never smelled like that and had a bad time - so it's always a good thing, right?
